They will perform a mole removal and then send a sample to the lab to be looked at by a pathologist. It is important to note that only about 20 percent of moles sent in for this type of biopsy are melanoma. Others are other types of skin cancer that are relatively harmless. Even if it is melanoma, if caught early, the prognosis is excellent.

You can get it right in the office of your dermatologist and either put your mind at rest or get rid of a mole that is unwanted.
